Hi, I’m Karen – thanks for visiting! I’m an artsy / craftsy / busy (!) girl living in Alaska. I originally started this blog in October 2007 as a challenge to myself to be more creatively productive on a daily basis and as a place to show friends what new creative things I’m up to.
In January 2010—at 41 years old—I enrolled in college to begin the long journey of earning first my undergrad, then my masters. I’m majoring in psychology with the long-term goal of being a counseling psychologist. I’d like to work with people who are grieving, dealing with some big life transition, or just feeling stuck or unhappy. I also have a strong interest in working with men and women in law enforcement on the specific emotional and relationship issues that come up in that line of work.
The creative side of my life is still very important to me, but because I’m working full time while also going to school ¾ to full time – I run out of hours in the day to be crafty! Consequently, my blogging slooowed down. I always liked it that my blog had a narrow and specific focus – just creative pursuits. At the end of each year I download all my blog content for that year into a hard-copy book. It’s become a really nice remembrance of what I did throughout the year. Now, with my focus in life shifting, I find that much of what’s important to me doesn’t fit here. But I still want to talk about it! :o) And I still want it in my end-of-year book.
So in 2012 I’m going to blog about whatever comes to mind and see how it goes. It was either that, or stop blogging entirely which I didn’t want to do. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, I hope you still enjoy it as it changes direction. I’m sure creative things will still find their place here (I’m still going to call my blog Tessandore Creative!) but it will become more reflective of the whole of my life now.
